Conceptually, the "skwheel" is a skwal derivate....I conceived and prototyped it to test its carving capabilities on hard surface (asphalt). Also I was interested to assess its skwal training value as add-on for our summer time. Overall, I got positive impressions and I am working on different skwheel protos and configurations to modify control, maneuvrability and flex. Although different in size, material and shape from a standard skwal, its response mirrors a skwal ride ...soft boots and step-in bindings suggested.

Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateNice idea, for your prototype you use trucks from skate bord, difficult to make a real carving with this system i think.
You can imagine a skwheel with 3 inline wheels from each side of your bord, (nose, middle and tail), if your board have a suffisant flex it could be possible to drive him like roller blade with the same technic we use in skwal.... NOUS BOIRONS DU LAIT QUAND LES VACHES MANGERONT DU RAISIN...
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
Yes Philobédo, ...Two months ago I had "connected" a pair of rollerblades with a metal bar... that version was the first "concept idea" of the skwheel...(at that time I was calling it skwade...skwal + rollerblade). Let's say that riding a pair of "fixed" in line rollerblades does not give you any margin of error at all...and you need more speed. I filmed that session but it will not be issued at this stage. As I was (and still am) in the prototyping phase I considered more pragmatic and convenient to keep a "wheel configuiration" of a skateboard...Thus, I filmed the two clips I issued here....the asphalt carving tests I did impressed me because I did not considered it possible...but during the turns I realised that when I was "carving" towards the asphalt I was riding on two single wheels and not all the four!...if you look at the first video you can lock the images and check this yourself....basically if you lay down enough the skwheel tilts on two wheels only leaving the other two wheels up in the air. In skwal we actually do the same with the edges...one edge carve the snow the other is up in the air... the real problem is the material for protection...asphalt carvin requires heavy protection... : ) if not...you will be bleeding for sure at every carve... Certainly (at least in my), the skwheel prototype 5 or 6 (I am completing the number 3) will have in-line wheels...we'll see what will happen ; ) Obi One
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateHello obi one
I think your skate-board truck are not good your "skweel". They dont turn enough and the length of the deck dont help. Trucks "carver C7" must be better. they turn doubly more because of a double axe in the front truck. So you can use two front trucks for easy carving. You can also have a look on a vidéo of "carveboard" it's a magic board for carving. Have much fun. tant que ça glisse !!!
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
thanks viensdusud, much appreciated, ...I will surely have a look at the "carver C7" indeed : ) Obi One
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateYou're totaly crazy
And we need guys like you Skwalez bien, Skwalez PLEIN !!!
De toute façon comme on dit chez nous : temps pas net, reste à la buvette...

I do think you are right McFly ....and to keep you smiling ...here I am also foolish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01b0eoY7q8Q however ALWAYS RESPECTFUL OF MY SKWAL ORIGIN .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I42qzv5v5PQ keep in touch Obi One
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivatePerhaps keep Oxeloboard, it's look like micro-Skwal. http://www.decathlon.fr/oxeloboard-bleu-id_8151556.html
... it's not enough if only 1 foot is fixed ? Skwal WAOUUU !!

Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
hi skwaloo, the two foot fixed on the skwheel is to maintain complete traction on the deck of the system during a carve ...simply you enter the turn by lateral inclination and the inclination of the skwheel should mirror that angle (more and less ...it is the same logic with our skwals)...if you free one foot ...well... it could be that you loose the traction into the turn...and will behave like a skateboarder or like a longboarder(they constantly modify their board-feet positioning and interaction...we, skwalers do not do this),....but I will give it a try ...who may never know ... the oxelo, wave boards as well as the ripstcks need modifications on the wheels as they have 360 degrees of freedom ...more interesting is a problem I saw when I got a waveboard in my hands... as you see, the inclination to carve down laterally is too limited...you may need to cut some lateral parts out of the oxelo...mmmm.... Obi n e the Skwal Club Italia web-site is about to be ready in few weeks...hope you will click in sometime
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
I don't think 360 degrees of freedom : "wheel return springs" (in more info on http://www.oxelo.com/EN/oxeloboard-73632932/ )
Certainly need to raise the wedge board Skwal WAOUUU !!

Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateHello obi one.
Please, have a look on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96lZyfbHM0I Carveboard built a smaller board with smaller wheels the longstick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZFjg31r ... re=related You can fix your boots like on a skwal. You have to chose wheels whith a good progressive slide for slow down or stop. You can see on the video that the deck get a big angle with the road!! Like a skwal! Have fun tant que ça glisse !!!
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateAnd with the larger wheels it's better too take more inclination.

Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
yep, the latter clip you sent around (with smaller wheels) is a promising idea....I like that and will really take into account for the skwheel proto n. 4 Obi One
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivate
yes those wheels would do fine for my prototypes ....thanks Skwaloo. The clip is really interesting to understand wheels behaviour of a T board as well.... Aslo, what I need now is to focus on the interface system (bindings),...in my mind I want full interface for total lateral feet traction. all in all, the quest of in-line feet boards (skwheel) on hard surface and feet-board locking systems on such boards (like our bindings on skwal) is still open... we will see... Obi One
Re: skwheel...a skwal derivateMore the wheel is larger, more you can take inclination to carve with the same larger board.
For bindings : With the Oxelo type for wheels I think you dont have to make big effort to inclinate the board. And it's allows you to make simple and light system. I think only scratching strap arround the foot can be proper. Skwal WAOUUU !!
