Lagriffe MR173 - excellent board

Postby Badger » 07 Feb 2010 19:46

Congratulations to the designers of the new Mach Racing 173 skwal. :!: :!: I rode it first time on saturday and this skwal is very very good. It is extremely well balanced, solid and fast. I can compare this board to my other skwals: Thias 165, 173 F and Volkl Monocarver and I can say already after the first carving day that the MR173 is the one for me. I can't wait till next weekend for another carving day :D

I've just bought one. It's really nice, but it seemed to be too vivid quick and unstable on speed. May be it is due to radius (10 m)? Or Am I too heavy for it (92 kg) ??

I guess that you are effectively too heavy for this board... The behaviour that you describe is surely due to your weight compared to the board tolerance.

Maybe you had to choose the MR183 (longer and slighty more hard).

some of the MR173 sent to Russia were carbon version without double titanal layer. So it can explain that you feel this board to soft especially with you size.
MR183 were also sent there with double titanal layer (but maybe still to soft for the tester)...

Yes, carbon version is good looking but too soft for me.
I have MR 173 Dual Titanal. But, I'm keep on thinking that need 183. Although, time is running and I'm falling in love by riding 173. :D

I dont know about you guys, but after the Mpride 183 I ABSOLUTELY LUUUV my Lagriffe Mach Racing Ti 173 :) so subtle, so quick, so stable - unbelievable.

maybe it is not too good for hi speed, but at moderate speeds it is excellent.

I love it so much - I sold the MPride :)

That means MR173 strong points are not in carving at high speed (40+ km/h). When I got Donek custom skwal 180 cm (13 SCR), carving at high speed became friendly.

Edit 20.10.2013 Due to the situation explained in this thread http://www.skwalzone.org/forums3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4836&p=35640#p35640 I have to take back all my recommendations of Lagriffe. I am sorry if I lead anyone to trouble by recommending Ludovic Lacroix. Below is the original message that I dissociate from:

agree with all the above. It is a stiff, damp board with small radius. If you want to make high speed carves, be prepared that she will try to make them tight! Fast, sweeping, big radius curves - this is not for MR173.

Straightlining down the slope may result in unstable ride (she will try to catch the edge and start turning on any bump).

Slow to medium speed, steep pistes, ice, low to the snow - this is it!
